What this site is
Will I Get Cut Off? is an independent consumer resource that documents utility shutoff rules and consumer protections for all 50 US states. It covers electric, gas, and water services — including how many days' notice utilities must give before disconnection, winter moratorium rules, medical exemptions, and reconnection fees.
Methodology
Data is sourced primarily from state Public Utility Commission (PUC) and Public Service Commission (PSC) websites, cross-referenced with the LIHEAP Clearinghouse and NARUC state regulator directory. All data was verified in September 2026.
Where specific values could not be confirmed from official sources, fields are marked as unknown. We do not publish unverified estimates.
